For his graduation concert, drummer Tilmann Herpichböhm launched his band project Jilman Zilman. The Ornette Coleman Quartet and John Zorn's Masada, perhaps the best-known Jazz quartets without a harmony instrument, were the inspiration for a rousing conglomerate of fast bebop lines with melodies and rhythms reminiscent of the Orient, Balkans and Klezmer, enriched with free jazz elements. 15 years, three albums, many awards and more than 30 original compositions later, the original line-up with the two alto saxophonists Johannes Ludwig and Christof Bossert and the addition of the American-Russian star pianist Simon Nabatov - who continues to amaze with his highly virtuoso improvisations inspired by classical music - is heading for the final round: the band is saying goodbye to its audience in the Nightclub, as Herpichböhm has taken on a variety of other challenges, including the direction of the Augsburg Jazz Sommer. It will be an exhilarating farewell party.
